In 2016, after 3 years of trying to get pregnant, we were referred to Dr. Odem. Both my husband and I have issues that make it hard for us to conceive a child. With WashU Medicine Fertility help and IVF we had a set of twins boys in July 2017. We were very blessed to have 2 embryos frozen. In the spring of 2021 we decided to grow our family and I, unfortunately, miscarried. October of 2021 we were getting ready to do another transfer when by a miracle we fell pregnant on our own. We came in to see Dr. Ratts, who wanted to confirm the pregnancy. As time progressed it was discovered that it was an ectopic pregnancy. Dr. Ratts took great care of me. After that we waited until spring of 2022, when we transferred the last embryo and unfortunately we had another miscarriage.
In October of 2022, we discussed with Dr. Ratts and we decided to do a fresh transfer. Unfortunately, our fresh transfer did not take. We again were blessed with 3 frozen embryos. We transferred again in January of 2023 and I had my fourth miscarriage at 13 weeks. By this point we were completely defeated. We had 2 embryos left. Dr. Ratts stated we can transfer anytime and that we could do both. After some time and prayer, we gave it one more go. I remember Dr. Ratts saying that IVF is like a cookbook, there are different medications we can try to help get and sustain a pregnancy. We tried some different medications and it worked! I gave birth to our second set of twin boys in June 2024.
